This is the first year that I've started on Math Journals so early. I have to say, I'm really loving it and kicking myself for waiting this long to try it out. In my mind, I've always thought that math journaling was for number sense and addition. Did you know that you can draw shapes and practice sorting too?! Yeah, it's been that eye opening for me.
This week we did four entries - we journaled four types of sorting. Sorting by color, shape, size and type. Unfortunately I only took pictures of sorting by color.
This past Friday, Zero the Hero visited our classroom again. It was the 20th day of school. For the 10th day he brought 10 white beads to begin making their one hundreds counters and gave them their math tool boxes. For day 20 he brought 10 red beads and dice for their boxes. Then we got to play our first dice game.
This week we are going to review our shapes and sorting and play partner games. We are going to learn how to sit EEKK style (Elbow to Elbow, Knee to Knee). Hopefully I'll remember to take more pictures. =)
